On October 11th 2011 the exposition "The water that removes hunger" was opened to the public at Catalonia’s Technologic and Science Museum (mNACTEC for its Spanish acronym). Organized by the UNESCO Sustainability Chair, the NGO Acció contra la Fam, the mNACTEC and the Solidarity and Cooperation Council.

The opening ceremony was attended by approximately 150 participants and was given by Mr. Casanelles Eusebi, Chairman of the Governing Board mNACTEC, and featured speeches from Mr. Jorge Morato, coordinator of the UNESCO Chair of Sustainability at UPC, Ms. Natalia Anguera Delegate in Catalonia, Action Against Hunger, Mr. Charles Lawrence, Director of the Catalan Agency for Cooperation and Development, and Ms. Josephine Soler, Councillor Solidarity and International Cooperation of the City of Terrace.

The water that removes Hunger consists of two sections: "Hungry Market: Open 24 hours" from the NGO Action Against Hunger and "Water for food: sustainable management of water and food sovereignty" from the Sustainable Management Group Water (AQUASOST) of the UNESCO Chair of Sustainability at UPC in an exhibition space of 250 square meters.

The exhibition aims to raise the general public awareness about the importance of water and the care for it. On the one hand "market Hunger: Open 24 hours" is a space that allows us to delve into how local people perceive what happens in regions affected by food shortages, showing the faces and stories behind this problem.

Moreover, "Water for food: sustainable management of water and food sovereignty" allows us to appreciate the importance of carrying out sustainable management of water as part of the necessary skills to ensure the productivity of land, while stressing the importance of the resource is in reducing vulnerability to climatic and environmental threats faced by communities. In short, it is intended to convey a closer vision of integrated management and sustainable water, highlighting its importance in the field of food sovereignty through two real examples coordinated by the AQUASOST group: 1) the socio-environmental transformation of "Morro de Moravia" in Medellin (Colombia), and 2) the proposed sustainable treatment and reuse of reclaimed water in semi-arid northeast of Brazil.

The exhibition will be open until April 29th 2012 and during this period there will be several activities, including Recycle City talks, video forums, tours, water workshops for schools, etc.
