PhD. Asthriesslav Rocuts Pabón, former student of the UNESCO Sustainability Chair PhD Program on Sustainability, Technology and Humanism from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), won the Award for Research on Civil Society on the PhD thesis modality for her work entitled "Addressing global issues: Theoretical foundations and methodological proposal for the creation of strategic alliances between civil society organizations." The award ceremony took place on August 24th, 2011 at 17:00 pm as part of the Opening of the XI Annual Conference of Research on the Third Sector.

The "Award for Research on Civil Society", is a prestigious award by the University of Guanajuato (Mexico), the Mexican Center for Philanthropy (Cemefi) institutions and members of the Congress Research Comity, with the aim of promote in Mexico research on issues related to civil society and strengthen the sector. In this sense, is to recognize research in civil society that provide a solid methodological basis and also provide a creative and innovative analysis of the sector.


The doctoral thesis directed by Dr. Xavier Alvarez is an example of the work promoted by the UNESCO Sustainability Chair at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC), which was created in May 1996 as an interdisciplinary, critical, reflective and open space to promote technology that contributes to sustainable AND human development. To achieve this we work in a network environment an integrated system of research, training, applied projects and international cooperation.
