2012/04 - The UNESCO Chair on Sustainability is organizing a side event in the 2012 International Conference EPFL
From May 29th to the 31st of 2012, in the city of Lausanne, Switzerland, the International EPFL Conference 2012 will be held with the theme Technologies for Sustainable Development: A way to reduce poverty? In collaboration with partners in both emerging and developing countries, the stated objective is to find adapted technology solutions to bring sustainable development to as many people as possible. The conference is intended to promote capacity building through the exchange of knowledge in a supportive way.
Within the framework of this event, the UNESCO Chair in Sustainability organizes the side event Challenges for local authorities: Planning to adapt to cope with extreme weather events, which will present case studies to open the debate on the South-South and South-North exchange of opportunities for the construction of a Training Program for Local Authorities in Risk Prevention and Environmental Responsibility: an academic cooperation - local authority.
This program is intended as a response to the current need to strengthen relations between local authorities and academia to introduce tools and methods for prevention and risk management in territorial planning.
The side event will consist of exposure of four case studies from four experts, as shown below.
